Green tea is getting a lot of attention these days as medical research is finally catching up with naturopathic / alternative medicine. Consumed for thousands of years as part of traditional Chinese medicine

The chemical composition of green tea is extremely complex, which could promote the health of substances including amino acid theanine, 5 Nethylglutamine, glutamic acid, tryptophan, glycine, serine, aspartic acid, tyrosine, valine, leucine, lysine, arginine, polyphenols, carbohydrates such as fructose, glucose and fructose, lipids, including essential fatty acids, various plant sterols (hormone-like substances in plants), caffeine and theophylline, pigments such as chlorophyll and carotenoids, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, chromium, manganese, iron, copper, zinc, selenium, among others.
It is likely that promote health and prevent disease effects of green tea, like many other natural products, the sum is greater than the whole.

One of the compounds in particular, green tea polyphenols, a catechin called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) has shown that in addition to a powerful antioxidant with potent anti-cancer and anti-lipogenesis.
